Bio
My story begins in Wisconsin, a wonderful land of lakes, trees, and wildlife. My Mother and Grandmother are expert gardeners, blessing me with many memories of harvesting sun tomatoes and munching on sweet peas. I grew up loving comics and cartoons, but never imagined how they were made. Video games and Dungeons and Dragons sparked my love of drawing and led me to study Drawing and Painting, graduating in 2010 with a BFA from UW-Milwaukee. After the 2008 financial crisis, I felt so lost, uncertain and overworked with many jobs. But in this chaos I had the freedom to create any type of art I wanted. I drew a lot of urban landscapes filled with vertical farms and dystopian landscapes. During this time I met my first mentor Mark David Gray, who taught me the importance of an art community.
His advice helped me begin establishing myself as a teacher when I transplanted to central Pennsylvania. There I fell in love with plein air painting and the locals regularly went on painting adventures together. Chopping wood for heat, gathering wild mushrooms for dinner, and hiking through forests influenced my art in ways I never thought were possible! I learned values of rural life and what sustainability and interdependence looks like in a small community.
After working as a private art tutor, and freelance illustrator for 6 years in the quaint town of Lemont, PA, I moved to big LA to pursue higher caliber careers in entertainment. I’m always striving to create the best art I can and have found the joy of working with a team truly inspiring. Currently I work as an environment designer during the day and make climate art for patrons at night.
